Errors and what they mean
Every message RailFi shows when a check fails, and what to do next.

In beta
These messages belong to RailFi payment links, which are in beta for invited contractors.
The rule
When a check fails, RailFi stops: nothing is created and no payment instructions are shown. RailFi never shows a raw technical error instead of one of the messages below.
Every message
bad_format“That doesn't look like an Ethereum address. Copy it again from your provider.”
- What it means
- The address has the wrong length or characters for the network you picked. The message names that network ("an Ethereum", "a Solana").
- What to do
- Copy the address again with your provider's copy button. See Networks and wallet addresses.
bad_checksum“This address fails its checksum, so it may have a typo. Copy it again from your provider.”
- What it means
- The mix of capital letters doesn't add up, which usually means a character is wrong.
- What to do
- Copy it again. Don't fix it by hand. See Checksums.
network_mismatch“This address is for a different network. Pick the network your provider gave you.”
- What it means
- For example, a Solana address with an EVM network selected, or the reverse.
- What to do
- Check the network named on your provider's deposit page. See Why the network must match.
unsupported_network“RailFi supports USDC on Ethereum, Polygon, Base, Arbitrum and Solana only.”
- What it means
- The address looks like a Tron or Bitcoin address.
- What to do
- Ask your provider for a USDC deposit address on a supported network.
is_token_contract“That's the USDC token contract, not your wallet.”
- What it means
- You pasted the address of the USDC token itself, a common copy-paste mistake.
- What to do
- Copy your deposit address from your provider instead.
sanctions_hit“We can't create payment instructions for this address. Contact us.”
- What it means
- The address matched the U.S. Treasury OFAC SDN list.
- What to do
- Contact us if you think this is a mistake. See Sanctions screening.
invoice_conflict“Invoice {no} already exists with different details. Void it first.”
- What it means
- You reused an invoice number with a different amount, network, address or date.
- What to do
- Void the old invoice, then create a new one. See Invoice IDs.
link_tampered“This payment link has been changed or is invalid. Do not pay.”
- What it means
- Something in the payment link doesn't match what RailFi signed.
- What to do
- Don't pay. Ask the contractor to resend the link from RailFi. See Link-tampering warning.
rate_limited“Too many tries. Wait an hour, or email forge7408@agentmail.to.”
- What it means
- Too many requests from one connection in an hour.
- What to do
- Wait an hour, or email us.
auth_expired“This link expired.”
- What it means
- Login links expire after 15 minutes.
- What to do
- Request a new link.
auth_used“This link was already used. Request a new one.”
- What it means
- Each login link works once.
- What to do
- Request a new link.
